I use the airbrush tool.

To even out skin I Get their skin colour and go over it lightly with the airbrush tool.

For like eyeshadow and stuff i usually do the same thing, if you want coloured eyeshadow change the brush mode to 'color' and then select what colour you want on the foreground and backround colour box. Then you can do other colours besides just black. Use the blur tool so the lines dont look to harsh and unnatural though.

If you want to get technical about it you can download some eyeshadow or eyelash brushes.

Heres a Retouch I did using these techniques =)

Most people who do this sort of photo retouching are professionals and therefore use Photoshop. If you can't find someone who can give you help directly in Gimp you may wish to review a number of the Photoshop tutorial sites to get an idea of the techniques involved and simply 'translate' that into the appropriate Gimp menu/tool options.Good luck.

PS - I found this link to a suitable collection of Photoshop tutorials covering makeup related issues http://www.photoshoproadmap.com/Photosho…
I use Photoshop.. but i know Gimp has similiar tools.. To put make-up on pics in the past i've imported a high quality pic of a woman with the make-up i wanted to use.( have both pics side by side) i use the clone tool (zoomed way in for more control) and it'll replicate the makeup exactly. U should create a new layer for the make-up so that u can control the opacity and fade so that it looks realistic.
