What is the best way to teach your daughter to apply makeup?

if she is only almost 14 and you don't want her to look like a street walker? What is the best way to teach your daughter to apply makeup?
I agree take her to a department store and let someone there like Clinique or MAC show her how to apply it. Or if you just wanted to teach her yourself ......do it the way you do just use less amounts and not as many products. Also, the bare minerals seems to be really great. I have it and I don't use it everyday I kinda switch back and forth but it goes on light. I would not recommend wearing eyeliner at this age but some gloss and mascara and a little blush should really be all she needs. The most important thing to teach her would be a good cleansing regimen ....that is so important especially at her age ...its a good habit to get in to.

Hope this was helpful ~~~~What is the best way to teach your daughter to apply makeup?
Teach her that less is more! Makeup should accentuate your features, not cover them with bright colors or too much blush.
Try to tell her that less is more. If she doesn't have blotchy skin, then don't worry about foundations. If she has zits or undereye bags, then you can get her a tube of concealer.

You might want to take her to a makeup stand (like Clinique). I recommend Clinique because they use more neutral tones and focus on colors that look natural. Whereas, if you go to MAC, you'll end up with peacock colors.

Buy her natural tones, like light beiges, maybe a shimmery pale pink. For mascara, if she has fair coloring, you could get her a brown mascara. Don't fuss about lipsticks, maybe a tinted lip gloss though. She should also have a natural flush, so you don't have to worry about blush.

Just keep things simple. Tell her that she's really pretty and she doesn't need to hide behind makeup. Teach her to use makeup to emphasize her looks, not to hide her looks.

If you think she's going too heavy on the eyeliner or shadows, tell her.

The best thing is for you to do one of her eyes, and have her try to mimic your techniques (or if you go to a makeup stand, have them teach her this as well).

When I was her age, I used lots of pinks, purple, blue and green eyeshadows. I had fun with them, I didn't try to look like a street walker. I would use the bright shadows as eyeliners as well. I didn't fuss about foundations, only a little bit of concealer under my eyes. My friends and I were also big on sparkles. So let her have fun, with her colors, if she wants. But just make sure that she's not trying to hide behind her mask of makeup.

(if she needs foundation for acne, then you may want to invest in a good one for her. A good foundation can help clear up and prevent acne. Please, guide her though, don't let her be one of those girls with an orange mask of foundation on her face.)
Go to a counter (Clinique or MAC) and get her a lesson, or have her watch you tube tutorials ... she has to learn about hygienic practices and how to blend! Plus get her foundation matched to her skin exactly. It's hard to go wrong with the perfect foundation!
Call a Mary Kay consultant to come and hold a skin care class for your daughter and several of her friends. They will learn how to take care of their skin and the best ways and products to use. Right now lots of new products are being introduced, so there will be many things to try. It can really be a fun night.
take her to a dept stor they show you for free.
I personally think that you couls teach her yourself, because it's cheaper and easier for her. I would take her to the store, where ever you want to buy her make up from and buy her some powder that matches her skin tone, consealer(if she ever gets a zit), some mascara, some lip gloss, and eye shadow that's not dramatic. For someone that age I would say use physicians formula face powder (its all natural and won't clog her pores that make her break out and it's very light looking), try the same for the consealer. For the mascara try Covergirl Lash blast mascara (it's a big brush, so it will be easier to put on) since she is just learning and it works wonderfully! Also try a very sheer lip gloss (Victoria's Secret has flavored ones that are almost clear with a little shimmer), and try the Victoria's Secret eye shadows (they come with theor own brush so it will be easy to put on).

After you buy it all, demonstrate on her and show her in a mirror, how to apply each one. It'll take practice, but she'll

Hope this helps, best of luck to you and your daughter!

Fill her in on the fact that light makeup applied properly can bring out her good features, but heavy makeup will hide them and make her look phoney.

Make her read the directions on each type of makeup she is going to use. It's important for her to know what to use to remove each type of makeup too.
show her the way you do it so she has a pretty good idea of how it works
Just start with blush and/or concealer and maybe a little covergirl mascara.
I got one of those make-up parties-in-a-box for my daughter when she was about that age. It can be used for her alone or there's enough for her to have her friends come over too. I worked with my daughter myself, and started out with a foundation that had sunscreen in it, and matched her complexion, and used very pale colors in general for her eyes and lips. I encouraged her to go for the natural look, and pointed out pics in Teen Vogue that I liked. Sometimes after that I'd catch her working in front of the mirror, using one of the pictures as a guide. So, I ';chose'; her look for her, but didn't preach it to her. The models I picked looked like her, and had the finished look I thought would be great for her. At the time she didn't really think she was using an idea from ';mom'; but rather from Teen Vogue! It worked!
Take her to a makeup counter in a dept store. Only let them use colors on her you approve of (I assume you'd like her to stick to neutral eyecolors, lighter lip shades, etc). They'll teach her how to apply everything.
My mom took me to a make-up counter in the mall. she had a friend working at younkers. So take her to a pro. it was so fun
I started with mascara and lipstick.. You should take her to MAC and they will show you how to apply make-up while they are applying it on her... They do have pretty crazy make-up but if you tell them that you just want it natural they have many options...Heads up though, it may cost money, but they have great make-up and they are very knowledgable about their stuff...
Go to the store and pick up a bunch of stuff (both stuff that you like and stuff that she likes). Have a make-up party, just you and her. Kick the guys out. You both could try different make-up styles on each other.
Just have her put her makeup on herself one afternoon,

then you see what she did wrong, teach her how to do it rightt

[i.e. don't use circular motions for blusher, pat concealer in, put foundation on your neck etc.]
start little

go to a salon

let her chose what she wants and then tell if that is good or not
I started at that age.. i just had like younger make up sets.. like the mary kate and ashley ones from boots or something.. they dont have any harsh products.. just blushers and colour lipglosses and eyeshadows! no like eyeliners and stuff that could look tarty.. start her off jus with blusher and lipgloss i would .. nd maybe clear/brown mascara! x
take her to a salon.
