I had a personal experience in which I put on makeup (either the wrong way or the wrong color) and it made my yellowish/olive skin look brown and dull. Am I paranoid or is this true? Can any of you share some of your experiences please? Can applying makeup the wrong way or choosing the wrong color actually darken and dull the skin?
You definately either chose the wrong color, didn't properly blend, or put on too much. It is actually a common problem and everyone at one point or another has done it.Can applying makeup the wrong way or choosing the wrong color actually darken and dull the skin?
this has never happened to me nor have i herd of this so i dont think its true.
its very important that you use the right make up for your skin if you dont you can damage it also cause wrinkles and other complications as you get older in my case i would see a doctor and ask them on whats safe and better to youse on the face,,,

So i have very olive skin. You just have to compliment you eyes and stay away from olive greens. You have beautiful skin in which minimal is maximal. Bringing out the rosiness in your cheeks makes you appear more tan and healthy and not drab and dull like you explained.
There's no ';wrong'; way to put it on.
It's just the makeup settling/reacting to your skin and changing colour.
It could also be that the makeup has expired, or you're picking the wrong colours/shades. Like paint, liquid makeup dries a different colour than what's in the bottle.
My advice is to find better, fresh, new, makeup that doesn't make your skin look brown and dull - try mineral powder, or something lighter.
